A horse was found grazing near train tracks between Olsbrücken and Wolfstein early Wednesday, temporarily halting train service on the route, German Federal Police in Kaiserslautern said in a statement.

Officers received a report about the animal at approximately 7:20 a.m. near the Rossbach stop by Rutsweiler.

A patrol arrived and safely captured the horse, which was uninjured.

The owner was identified, and the animal was returned.

Both the escapee and a second horse still in the paddock were moved to a stable for safety. Authorities are investigating how the horse escaped, as the paddock fence was found intact.
