Numerous schools across Germany, including one in Weilerbach in the Kaiserslautern district, received anonymous bomb threats Monday, according a Westpfalz Police Department statement.

Schools in Rheinland-Pfalz were targeted by threatening letters referencing the situation in the Middle East, police officials said.

While authorities don’t consider the threats credible, each case is being investigated seriously, Rheinland-Pfalz criminal police said in a statement. Police declined to comment on the ongoing investigations.
