Ache’s late goal fires FCK past Muenster

()

Ragnar Ache proved to be the difference for the 1. FC Kaiserslautern coming off the bench on Saturday afternoon in Muenster.

In the 86th minute, the striker rose near the edge of the 6-yard box to head in a corner from teammate and fellow substitute Philipp Klement to give the Red Devils the 1-0 victory.

The win puts FCK in fourth place in the 2. Bundesliga, tied on seven points with the three teams above them in the standings.

Prior to the goal, the match was known more for yellow cards, as the squads combined for nine cautions from the referee.

Goalkeeper Julian Krahl made two second-half saves on Muenster free kicks, including stretching out to grab a 21-yard attempt from Marc Lorenz in the 64th minute to keep the match scoreless.

FCK returns to action Aug. 31 with a home match against Hertha BSC. The match kicks off at 20:30 CET.
