Some changes to ease the long wait for appointments and the inefficient queue system at vehicle registration are coming for members of the Kaiserslautern Military Community.

The online queue, which serves as a virtual waitlist for walk-in appointments, is now continuous and rolling, eliminating problems with getting in or staying in the system, Ramstein Air Base officials said when contacted by Stars and Stripes.

Previously, the queue would reset every day, kicking out names that didn’t get a walk-in appointment the same day.

The Fridays for First-timers and Finals program has been discontinued, officials said. Since June 14, Fridays were only for newly arrived personnel who were registering a vehicle for the first time.

A new substation is on track to open Aug. 15 at Ramstein’s KMCC. It will be on the second floor in the space previously occupied by the pharmacy. The substation will provide quick service on a first-come, first-served basis to those who need deregistration, renewals and transfers. No queue slot will be required.

Since the closure of the the Sembach vehicle registration office in May, which coincided with the start of the busy military moving season, daily appointment slots for private vehicle registration services have been scarce at Kapaun Air Station in Kaiserslautern.
