The Utility Tax Avoidance Program and Value Added Tax programs office on Ramstein Air Base has relocated from Building 2118 to the Ramstein Enlisted Club, Building 2140, the 86th Force Support Squadron announced on Facebook.

The office opened its doors to customers in its new location on Wednesday morning.

UTAP helps service members save on utility costs, while the VAT program assists military and civilian employees in saving up to 19% on purchases made on the local economy.

To avoid paying value-added taxes in Germany, service members use two types of forms: one for purchases under 2,500 euros and another for purchases of 2,500 euros and over. These forms can be obtained from the office for a small fee. To purchase a VAT form, customers must bring their ID.

The Ramstein VAT and UTAP office is now accepting walk-ins as appointments are no longer required. However, previously scheduled appointments will have priority.

For more information and to ensure you have all necessary documentation, visit the office’s website or email 86svs.vatoffice@us.af.mil.
