An American SUV driver collided with a motorcyclist Thursday evening, injuring the rider, Westpfalz Police said in a statement Friday.

The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Pariser Strasse near the Vogelweh gate.

A 36-year-old woman driving an SUV attempted to make a U-turn and collided with a motorcycle traveling in the same direction, police said. U.S. military officials were not immediately able to confirm if the driver is military affiliated.

The 31-year-old motorcyclist was treated by emergency responders at the scene and transported to a hospital. Both vehicles were damaged in the crash.

Police investigations are ongoing.
