City, wine and football festivities and more to do this weekend in the KMC

Here are some summer events coming to Kaiserslautern tonight and this weekend.

Get your weekend started early with the Lautrer Summer Evenings concert series. From 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, Stephan Flesch and Elmar Federkeil will perform songs by popular artists such as James Morrison, Phil Collins, Ed Sheeran, Bill Withers and more at St. Martins Square in downtown Kaiserslautern.

Friday through Sunday is Zweibrücken’s annual city festival. Live music, ranging from pop, rock and soul to funk and folk, will play on eight open-air stages throughout the city center.

This weekend is also Grünstadt’s popular wine festival featuring wine tastings, live music as well as festival rides and games from Friday through Monday.

On Saturday, 1. FC Kaiserslautern will celebrate the official season opening at Fritz Walter Stadium with a fan festival and game against 1860 Munich. The fun on the Betzenberg starts at 10 a.m. at Parkplatz Ost, adjacent to the stadium. That evening, grab your dancing shoes and head to the Schillerplatz in Kaiserslautern for free dancing as part of the “Lautern Dances” series. This week, salsa, bachata and kizomba will be taught in a free workshop is from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by open-air dancing until 11 p.m.
