An accident involving two cars and a motorcycle closed a road near the Kaiserslautern sewage treatment plant between Otterbach and Kaiserslautern on Friday afternoon, Westpfalz Police reported.

Six people were involved in the crash. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and is currently being treated by emergency responders. A driver who was trapped in their vehicle had to be freed by the fire department and is also receiving medical attention.

Erzhütterstrasse is completely closed at this time, causing traffic to back up in all directions, including coming from the Erzhütten district.

Motorists should expect delays and are urged to avoid the area as police are redirecting traffic around the accident site, officials said in a statement.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
