A K-Town Now reader question prompted the following update: Route L356 will be closed in sections between the Ramstein-Miesenbach and the Spesbach roundabout for approximately seven weeks, Rheinland-Pfalz transportation officials said in a statement.

The closure will be executed in three phases for traffic and worker safety and is scheduled until Aug. 16.

During the first phase, the L356 between the Autobahn 62’s “Hütschenhausen” exit and the K9 intersection will undergo asphalt renewal. Traffic from Ramstein-Miesenbach will be rerouted, with a detour via highway A62 to the Landstuhl-West interchange, then via A6 to the Ramstein-Miesenbach exit, continuing on L363 to Ramstein, and then to L356.

In the second phase, the L356 from the “Hütschenhausen” exit to Spesbach will be completely closed for asphalt renewal.

The final phase will focus on the Spesbach roundabout, with local access maintained via detours for businesses such as the gas station and Netto Market.

Detours for the entire construction period will be signposted, officials said, directing traffic from Ramstein-Miesenbach over K9 to Steinwenden, through Obermohr to Niedermohr via L363, and from Schrollbach to L356 Spesbach.
