Authorities are seeking witnesses following a high-speed police chase in Kaiserslautern on Thursday evening.

At around 6:30 p.m., a plainclothes police patrol attempted to stop a Volkswagen Passat near Messeplatz. The driver of the Passat made a sudden U-turn and fled at high speed through the city streets.

During the chase, the unidentified driver nearly collided with an oncoming car while turning from Fischerstrasse onto Krimmstrasse. The other driver managed to avoid the accident with an emergency stop. Concerned for public safety, the police decided to call off the pursuit.

Officers last saw the Passat on Nadelstrasse, noting damage to the vehicle’s left side. The police have launched an investigation and are urgently looking for witnesses who can provide information about the unknown driver. They are also seeking individuals who may have been endangered or harmed by the fleeing driver’s actions.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Altstadtrevier police station at 0631 369-2150.
