US soldier crashes into dealership: Morning collision causes major damage

An American driver caused significant traffic disruption and extensive damage in a Thursday morning accident on Kaiserstrasse.

The 21-year-old motorist veered off the road near Im Haderwald around 6 a.m., crashing into multiple parked cars at a local car dealership, Westpfalz Police said.

The driver is a soldier with the rank of specialist, who is assigned to the 92nd Military Police company, 86th Airlift Wing officials confirmed Monday.

The collision resulted in the damage of the driver’s vehicle and three new cars, with total damages estimated in the hundreds of thousands of euros.

Police suspect the driver fell asleep at the wheel and have launched an investigation for endangering road traffic.

The driver sustained minor injuries and his license was confiscated at the scene. American military police were at the scene to assist local authorities.
