Vintage car enthusiasts are gearing up for the 16th annual Kaiserslautern Classics and the ADAC Trifels Oldtimer Rallye in Kaiserslautern’s city center on June 15.

The events are expected to draw hundreds of visitors and classic vehicle aficionados to the heart of the city for a day filled with automotive nostalgia.

More than 200 classic cars, motorcycles, fire trucks, commercial vehicles, tractors and Vespas will transit the pedestrian zone and key locations such as Stiftskirche Square, Altenhof, Schillerplatz, Riesenstrasse and St.-Martins-Platz.

From Kaiserslautern, participants will embark on a 125-mile journey through the Palatinate’s scenic routes. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at Möbel Martin’s parking lot and culminates at 3:45 p.m. at the K in Lautern, followed by a display at Stiftsplatz.

A highlight of the day is the second Vespa gathering, where over 100 enthusiasts of the iconic scooter will convene at Johanniskreuz, south of Kaiserslautern, at 10 a.m. before riding into the city center at 11 a.m. to showcase their scooters in front of Stiftskirche as part of the Kaiserslautern Classics.

The event will be complemented by a lively program celebrating the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s, officials said. Dance groups dressed in period costumes will perform throughout the city, while musical acts including “The Fat Cat” (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), “Rockabilly Hellraisers” (4 to 8 p.m.), “Lucky Random” (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), and “Sarah und die Swing Herrn” (3 to 7 p.m.) will entertain crowds at various venues.

Choral performances by “Fresh” and “Forever Young” will also take place from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. More info at http://www.rallye-trifels.de/
