Kaiserslautern’s summer concert series will kick off May 12 in Volkspark, featuring a mix of big band, traditional brass and modern music every other Sunday until September.
The series will feature nine diverse concerts at the blue pavilion every other Sunday through early September, Kaiserslautern city management said in the initial announcement.
Each concert is free of charge and starts at 11 a.m., with two hours of local musical entertainment.
The opening performance by Musikverein Trulben e.V., themed “Musical World Journey,” on May 12 will showcase an array of styles from traditional brass to swing and symphonic pieces.
Following this, the series continues with:
May 26: Musikverein Hohenecken 1924 e.V. presents “100 Years and Not a Bit Quiet,” featuring big band sounds. June 9: “Tradition Meets Modern” with Kolpingskapelle Neustadt / Weinstraße Hambach e.V., blending traditional brass with modern tunes. June 23: Rittersberg Big Band takes the stage with “Swing and Sing,” offering a mix of swing, Latin and rock. July 7: NahetalOrchester plays “Musical Variety so Close,” showcasing modern entertainment music. July 21: Kolpingkapelle Kindsbach 1926 e.V. invites to “The World of Brass Music,” covering a range from folk to modern pop and jazz. Aug. 4: Spielgemeinschaft Hütschenhausen e.V. presents “Musical Journey Through Time,” under the direction of Stefan Grüner. Aug. 18: Musikverein Münchweiler 1924 e.V. celebrates “100 Years of Brass Music, A Special Journey.” Sept. 1: The series culminates with Blue Light Big Band Ludwigshafen’s “Big Band goes Volkspark,” featuring a blend of swing, Latin, rock, pop and soul.
