The U.S. attacked the Iran nuclear facilities at Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz in a mission dubbed Operation Midnight Hammer. The operation took weeks of positioning and preparing.

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll promised senators more information on the service’s new force restructuring plan that some lawmakers have said lacks details.

Staff Sgt. Saul Fabian Gonzalez, 26, of Pullman, Mich., died Tuesday in Erbil, Iraq, while Sgt. 1st Class Emmett Wilfred Goodridge Jr., 40, of Roseville, Minn., died Sunday at Camp Buehring, Kuwait.

The Army had a range of events this week to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the service, culminating with Saturday night’s parade that coincided with President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. 

The second soldier is in stable condition at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. The incident is under investigation.

After bringing back the name Fort Bragg to the post in North Carolina, President Donald Trump visited the base and announced seven other southern Army installations would return to their old names that were changed in 2023 because they honored Confederate generals.

Four World War II veterans attended the celebration. Each veteran’s time of service was read during the ceremony and the crowd applauded for their efforts. Navy Secretary John Phelan attended the ceremony and took time to speak with each of the veterans before and after the event.  

The event outside the U.S. Capitol was orchestrated in conjunction with the Women in the Services Coalition Initiative and lasted 45 minutes before veterans went inside to deliver several thousand letters to lawmakers’ offices.

Kingsley Wilson, daughter of a right-wing commentator and herself known for combative social media posts, is the latest person to hold the seat of Pentagon press secretary.

The Defense Department spends about $5 billion to move military personnel and their families between assignments, with moves typically occurring every two to four years.
