Dozens of tractors with Christmas lights and decorations will be rolling along the streets of Ramstein-Miesenbach on Saturday for almost four hours in a parade that organizers call a “light ride.”

Between 4:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., the convoy of tractors will make its way through various areas. The parade starts at the Trifthof in Miesenbach and proceeds to Niedermohr, Schrollbach, Katzenbach to Spesbach before ending at the Schanzerhof in Hütschenhausen, according to a Kaiserslautern district statement.

The idea of light rides goes back to the COVID-19 pandemic and sprang from a desire “to bring light and hope to the people, as well as to show cohesion and community in difficult times,” Kaiserslautern local newspaper Wochenblatt reported.

Event organizers Sandra and Stefan Fischer told the newspaper that the light ride has become a tradition for them.
