DIVISION I

Nile C. Kinnick Red Devils

Far East tournament titles — 12, tied for third-most all-time.

Head coach — Stan Hovell, third season.

Key performers — Samuel Tovar, Sr., 133; Joah De La Cruz, Jr., 114; Luke Menard, Jr., 121; John Tang, 160 (transferred from States); Ethan McDanel, 152; Juno Robinson, 127 (transferred from States); Gavin Caddali, 121; Joseph Mauldin, Sr., 145.

Outlook — Contending, if all the chips fall into place and injuries and influenza don’t intrude, as they did a season ago. Two transfers from the States will help. Team began the season with 10 girls.

DIVISION II

Robert D. Edgren Eagles

Far East tournament titles — 12, most all-time in D-II, tied for third-most all-time overall.

Head coach — Justin Edmonds, 19th season.

Key performers — Tristan Riddle, So., heavyweight; Anthony Mulhall, So., 121; Haruki Jones, Jr., 127; Ethan Wong, Jr., 135.

Outlook — Rebuilding, but that was the case last season only to see the Eagles win the Far East D-II dual-meet title. Still, numbers are thin.

Matthew C. Perry Samurai

Far East tournament titles — Two.

Head coach — Brandy Navarro, first season.

Key performers — Xander Grantham, Sr., 215; Gregorii Murodov, Jr., 133; Wyatt Kitko, Sr., 139.

Outlook — Rebuilding. Samurai welcome their third head coach in three seasons. Thin in numbers. Potential is there for a couple of weight-class titles.

Yokota Panthers

Far East tournament titles — Six in D-II, eight overall.

Head coach — Theo Kuntz, fourth season.

Key performers — Noah Harbert, Sr., 189; Aiden Greer, Jr., 152; Liam Kirby, So., 145-52; Aiden Stedlin, So., 114; Brandon Christenson, Sr., 145; Jay Gutierrez, So., 107; Evan Horne, Jr., 13; Laine Lilly, Jr., 172.

Outlook — Rebuilding-reloading. More numbers came out this season, including seven girls. Potential is there to contend, should things fall into place and injuries don’t intrude.

Zama Trojans

Far East tournament titles — Three in D-II, five overall.

Coach — Chris Waite, first season (has assisted the last three seasons).

Key performers — Kieran Montgomery, Sr., 145-152; Sean Neloms, Jr., 215; Jeffery Wooland, Sr., heavyweight; Gabe Simpkins, So., 139.

Outlook — Reloading and optimistic regarding contending. More numbers in the room than the Trojans have had in five years.

E.J. King Cobras

Coach — Kevin McGrath, second season.

Key performers — Matthew Balitaan, So., 121; Aarona Headley, Sr., 152; Jude Cutler, Jr., 133; Jesus Puello, Jr., 215; Vincent Lin, Sr., 160.

Outlook — Reloading-contending. Largest team in the school’s history; two deep at most weights and five girls this season. Could challenge for a school-first D-II title.
