Mainz, Germany, Feb. 8, 2018: A group of revelers celebrates Weiberfastnacht, or women’s carnival, in Mainz, Germany. As one can see, not only women were celebrating.

Weiberfastnacht is celebrated on Fat Thursday and marks the start of Fasching — or Carnival — in Germany, a week marked by costumes, parades and revelry before the somberness of Lent.
