Heidelberg, Germany, June 19, 1948: Mary Joan Liddle of Wallasey, Cheshire, England, former secretary to the managing editor of Stars and Stripes, and Sheridan Louis Moyer, of Wheeling, W. Va., are heading to the Providence Church in Heidelberg to get married. Mr. Moyers is chief mechanical adviser to the chief of ordnance, EUCOM.
Stars and Stripes’ staff photographers were often called upon to do double duty as wedding photographers for their love-struck colleagues as romances blossomed in post-war Germany. The archives staff digitized a few of them, but Mary Joan and Sheridan remain our favorite. Read more here.
