Lop Buri, Thailand, Feb. 9, 2009: Smoke grenades cloud a mock United Nations humanitarian relief distribution station under attack in Lop Buri, Thailand, during a training drill for Cobra Gold ’09. The joint, multinational exercise which ranges from amphibious assaults to humanitarian evacuations was held at more than a dozen locations across the Thai kingdom and involved nearly 7,000 U.S. troops who were joined by more than 4,000 others from Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and Singapore. The 28th Cobra Gold exercise had two objectives: to teach coalition warfare and provide tactical training.
