48th Surgical Hospital, South Korea, Nov. 24, 1958: “Reconditioning exercises” are led by SP5 Wallace C. Henninger, chief ward master, and SFC Harold Kelleher, training NCO. The U.S.48th Surgical Hospital in Korea is an unusual organization as it provides care for convalescent patients only. The hospital, under the command of Maj. James Shafer, is equipped with modern facilities for rehabilitating patients and therapy and physical exercises are emphasized in the treatment of men.
