Tangi District, Afghanistan, Oct. 17, 2009: Pfcs. John Gudzelak, 23, left, and Justin Griffin, 19, members of a route-clearing patrol with the 10th Mountain Division, joke around after their armored vehicle was struck by a bomb set off by a trigger man in the hostile Tangi valley of eastern Afghanistan’s Wardak province earlier that day. The mine-sweeping vehicle was damaged, but its armor was not penetrated by the blast, and the two soldiers were knocked out but not badly hurt.
