Suresnes, France, Sept. 13, 1952: Soldiers from the 18th Infantry Regiment take part in a dedication ceremony at the military cemetery at Suresnes, just outside of Paris. Among the speakers at the event was retired general and former secretary of state George C. Marshall, who pledged that U.S. forces in Europe “will not go home until our friends here feel that our presence is no longer essential to their freedom.”
