Tangi Valley, Afghanistan, Nov. 7, 2009: Soldiers with 3rd Platoon, Company A, 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment set off from Combat Outpost Tangi en route to the site of a discovered roadside bomb. Since standing up the austere outpost in June, the soldiers had battled roadside bombs and a populace that was not ready to buy the counterinsurgency incentives that they were selling.
