Mediterranean Sea, August 1975: Precision parking was a priority on the tightly packed flight deck of the USS Forrestal. After the planes zoomed in for a landing, they were fitted, like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, into a tight pattern. The Forrestal had recently been redesignated as multipurpose aircraft carrier CV 59 (from attack aircraft carrier CVA 59).
