Iraq, March 22, 2003: Pfc. Nicholas Wayne Blunt, 20, of Dallas, was one of many soldiers assigned to guard the 6th Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment’s vehicles as the convoy moved from Camp Udairi, Kuwait, to their new post in central Iraq. The invasion of Iraq began March 19 with air assaults, followed by ground forces the next day. The convoy began their journey March 21.
