Naples, Italy, Feb. 1976: Hull technician Deano Marchese works on a high-pressure steam line aboard the guided missile cruiser Little Rock in the Mediterranean. Marchese and 12 other men of the Little Rock’s Main Propulsion Repair team who worked below decks were known as “snipes” — and said they were proud to carry the nickname.
