Herat, Afghanistan, March 30, 2005: Girls from the local orphanage, dressed in traditional festive clothes, sing a song during a groundbreaking ceremony for a new girls’ orphanage. The new 16-room orphanage, with a kitchen, dining hall, toilets and showers, was one of the last projects for the American Herat Provincial Reconstruction Team before turning the mission over to the Italians.
