Tokyo, October 1964: Referee Reg Gittins directs Joe Frazier to a neutral corner after the American boxer floored Russia’s Vadim Yemelyanov in the second round of their heavyweight semifinal bout at the Olympic Games. Yemelyanov staggered to his feet, but his corner threw in the towel, sending Frazier to the final and an eventual gold medal.
