Haneda Tokyo International Airport, Japan, March 30, 1958: Movie star William Holden, accompanied by his wife, former actress Brenda Marshall, arrived at Tokyo International Airport Sunday. Holden, who appeared in the Academy Award winning picture “Bridge on the River Kwai” which is presently playing to packed houses in Japan, has become an avid collector of Japanese art ever since his trip to the country in 1954. The couple will be staying in Japan for a week.

This image is the second scan of the photo print from the Stars and Stripes Pacific photo print collection. It was scanned after a first full color scan was done, after which red edit marks were carefully removed from the print before scanning to preserve as much of the image as possible.

The greyed out area behind Marshall’s head is impossible to remove without damaging the print, so it remains.
