The USS Abraham Lincoln departed San Diego for a friends and family day cruise on Saturday to demonstrate its combat capabilities and showcase daily life aboard the ship at sea.

Guests had an opportunity to observe an airpower demonstration by an F/A-18E Super Hornet on the flight deck of the Lincoln and tour work spaces inside the ship. Friends and family day cruises are usually held once in a deployment cycle for each Navy aircraft carrier.

Lincoln, the flagship of the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, returned to San Diego on Dec. 20, 2024, after completing a five-month deployment conducting combat operations in the Middle East.
