Lt. Cmdr. Adam Sandifer was relieved of his duties as commanding officer of Navy Reserve Center in Shreveport, La., on Friday by Rear Adm. Michael Steffen, the commander of Navy Reserve Forces Command, due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command.

“The Navy maintains the highest standards for commanding officers and holds them accountable when those standards are not met,” the service said in a press release.

The U.S. military routinely cites only a vague “loss of confidence” when removing commanders and other leaders from authority positions.

Sandifer, who assumed command of NRC Shreveport in March 2024, has been temporarily reassigned to Navy Personnel Command.

Sandifer’s dismissal comes less than three weeks after Lt. Cmdr. Christopher Bourque was fired from the Navy Reserve Center in Cheyenne, Wyo.

Lt. Cmdr. John Perez has been temporarily assigned as NRC Shreveport’s commanding officer.
