RICHFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (Tribune News Service) — A military vehicle traveling on northbound Interstate 75 over the weekend was involved in a rollover crash in Roscommon County.
Richfield Township public safety officers responded Saturday to the crash near the interstate’s 222-mile marker. They arrived to find a large military vehicle had left the road and rolled over. The vehicle had been carrying military equipment and two military personnel.
The passenger was able to get free, but the driver remained trapped inside, police said. Officers extricated the driver and rendered aid. Both service members were transferred to a nearby hospital, one by helicopter, and the other via ambulance. Updates on the conditions of the service members and details about where they were based were not immediately available.
Police shut down northbound I-75 to prepare a secure landing zone.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
