A U.S. soldier died Sunday in a noncombat-related incident at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait, U.S. Army Central announced in a news release.

The cause of death is under review and the soldier’s name is being withheld until next-of-kin are notified, the Army said.

Camp Arifjan is a U.S. Army installation located south of Kuwait City that also houses Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard personnel, as well as military personnel from the U.K., Australia, Canada, Romania and Poland.

The Middle East has been thrown into turmoil following the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas on Israel and the subsequent war in Gaza.

The U.S. has launched a series of strikes against Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen, Iraq, Syria and the Red Sea in response to attacks on commercial and military ships in the area.
