A U.S. Army soldier died Thursday while deployed to Kuwait, a statement from U.S. Army Central said.
The death occurred during a non-combat related vehicle accident at Udairi Range, Kuwait, the statement said.
The identification of the soldier is being withheld until next of kin are notified, and an investigation has been launched, the statement said.
Thousands of U.S. military personnel are deployed to Kuwait, and the Kuwaiti government pays some of the cost of their presence, a Congressional Research Service report last week said.
The country hosts the forward headquarters of U.S. Army Central Command, as well as the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve, which focuses on anti-Islamic State efforts.
