Naples wasted no time asserting its superiority, scoring five runs in the first game’s first inning and 14 in the late game’s opening frame.
Lakenheath 5/9, SHAPE 3/6: Friday at Lakenheath, the Division I Lancers fought off consecutive challenges from the Division II Spartans.
Paul Nastav and Bailey Babineaux earned pitching wins for the Lancers. Chris Kiefer went 4-for-5 in the late game for Lakenheath.
Lakenheath 15/6, AFNORTH 0/5: Saturday at Lakenheath, Kiefer pitched a complete-game one-hitter in the opener and notched two hits in the nightcap as the Lancers escaped the weekend unscathed.
Justin Menges and Ben Ciero also had two hits each for the Lancers in the late game; Trace Register, Jaylen Major and Bradley Runyon had hits for AFNORTH on the weekend.
Wiesbaden 13/5, Schweinfurt 5/3: Friday at Wiesbaden, Justin Jones and Justin Gershen produced back-to-back quality starts in a Warrior sweep.
Pitcher Storm Speakman kept the Razorbacks close in the late game, scattering eight hits and recording 12 strikeouts. But Devan Zielanski (2-3, two RBI, two runs) and the Warriors pushed through for the win.
