The Opel Traffic Circle near Rhine Ordnance Barracks will be closed for road marking work on Sunday, starting at approximately 8 a.m., according to the Kaiserslautern city administration’s road construction department. The closure is necessary to ensure traffic safety, officials said.

Access to Merkurstrasse will only be possible from the direction of Hohenecken, but delays are expected. The full closure of the traffic circle is anticipated to be lifted by early afternoon.

Public transport will also be affected, with SWK line 101 and Westpfalz regional lines 140 and 141 unable to service stops in the closed area during this time.

In the afternoon, work will move to the road near McDonald’s at the Kaiserslautern-West A6 interchange, leading to additional closures. However, the area will remain accessible from Merkurstrasse or the Autobahn. Concurrently, the entrance to Globus on Merkurstrasse will be fully closed for pavement marking restoration.
